PBL challenges

Whats up blogger, my name is Zac and this term for our PBL we have been learning about innovation and we did some challenges for our PBL. lets get straight into it

On the 21st and 22nd of August Term 3, we did challenges for innovation. We only got to use a newspaper and one meter of tape. We had three challenges which were probably 30-45 minutes each. 


Our first challenge was to make a device that would catch a balloon and retrieve it. The balloon was three meters away from us and we couldn't move forward. My team (Lucas and Taine) couldn't retrieve the balloon but we managed to bounce the balloon with our device.






Our next challenge was to make formal clothes out of newspapers and ten metres of tape! I was able to make a cape just in time and I also helped my friend Taine to make a suit. But for this challenge we had to make two jackets, a skirt and a pair of trousers.




Finally our last challenge! We had to make another device with newspaper and one metre of tape. In this challenge we had to drop a marble and let it roll all the way until it passed the line or until it touched the can. Hitting the can equaled five points and passing the line was three points. Again, it was three meters away so we made a 1.5 meter device. Sadly we didn't pass the line because there was a little wall in our device so the marble couldn't get through.

Amzing Museum trip, Was it good?

Bonjour bloggers, My name is Zac Kelly and our class Tumu went on a field trip on the 16th of September 2019 to the museum in Christchurch!

So when we got there we where welcomed by some wonderful worker called Anthony and Melissa they where going to help us in the day. First we got into our home-base lines and went of in different ways to go and explore the museum. Home- base one (my home-base) went of with Anthony and the other home-bases went of with Melissa, with Anthony we talked about how the Maui people survived in New Zealand, what tools they used to make things and how they made them. Now we went out to lunch to eat and play for a little (*_*)

then we went inside to go into Anthony work shop!! In Anthony's works shop we use some of the Maui tools, here is what we did

Cars, cars, cars. We need to change them!🚙

I believe that electric cars should be cheaper than petrol cars.

We know that electric car are good for the environment. So,  they should be cheaper than petrol cars, right? Sadly this is not the case. And there are many reasons why they should be.

I think that if it is causing  animals to die and places in the world to flood than we should be dropping the price don’t you think! And if it is making people get lung cancer than people will die, Say if every person in the world has 2 petrol cars than most people would be dying of lung cancer because the petrol causes greenhouse gases and fossil fuels than they should be cheaper.


Another reason why is that they do not make a noise, say if you have to get up at 6:00 in the morning and you live on a road that has a bus stop than you probably will not get any sleep! But say if bus’s where electric than they will not make as much noise and you can sleep in the clouds.


My last reason is that you will not need to go to the petrol station because you will not need to because electric car do not need petrol so you will need a battery that will last for a long time. Even though they are expensive in five years  you might have to buy a new battery and if you have to buy petrol every week that costs one hundred dollars than every week you spend one hundred dollars than I think in five years you would've spent 57,655 dollars per five year, you might not believe me but research shows that the average person spends 221 dollar a week on petrol that is a lot on money! Say if you have a electric car you can buy a three thousand dollar battery that last the more than five years more than six they last for eight year that! Say if you think that you are still going to use a petrol car this is how much it cost for the average person spends on petrol per eight year a whopping 92, 248 that is a lot more money!

 Now do you want to get a electric car, well I hope you will because I have given you many reasons why electric cars should be cheaper. I hope you will agree with me to make all electric car to not be as pricy in New Zealand.

the show about the Gods!!

Hello bloggers, my name is Zac Kelly and our hub went ot the court theater show!😄

On the 27 of August Tumu hub went to a show about the Gods called

O LE MALAG'A FA' A 'ATU. It was about the first ever coconut tree and how it was made! at the start some one had slowed down the sun and the god of the sky wanted to now who did it. so he called the God of shape shifting to come and talk to him. the god of the sky's said to him "hey did you make my sun slow down" the God of shape shifting said no I did not slow down your sun, the god of the sky's said be gone then! then the god of the sky's called the god of war to come and talk to him, she said to the god of the sky's. hey Mr why did you call me here I was in the middle of a war and we where winning! well some one slowed down my sun and I know it was you god of war it was not it might of been that Maui guy who lives in that village and help all the people in the village so the god of the sky's called him to talk to him, wow said Maui why am I in the sky's and then Maui looked up and he saw the god of the sky. he said wow am I dreaming and then he went up to him and tried to put his hand in him but he was rock soiled! he said why did you call me me to this place above the clouds Maui said. because Some one slowed down my sun and I think it was you! well it might of been me I will think where I have been in the week, Monday I fished up the land for the people in the village you now the village needs the land for there farm. on Tuesday I helped my mother to farm and make rope. on Wednesday I went and slowed down the sun so yes I did slow the sun down. and why did you do that? well the villagers did no have time to do everything that they needed to do in the day because the sun was going to fast so they asked me if I could slow down the sun so I did🌞! Then the god of the sky's said did you slow down the sun because you want to be a God? Yes I do want to be a god so can I? Say if you want to be a God you have to defeat tuna, oh tuna so easy to defeat he is just a fish when I am at my village we eat Tuna all the time! so easy to fish and so easy to kill!  I am not talking about that tuna I am talking about a tuna that when it is angry it grows more and more so you are going to need more then an arm or leg to defeat tuna you will need a magic fish hook and a turtle shield to defeat tuna but you will need to call the turtle that lives at the bottom of the sea, like this... turtle, turtle, turtle and then he will come to you and then you will have to go to the under world and ask a devil if you can have fish hook and then you have to pick the right one that magic and then you will be ready to fight tuna. ok said Maui and then he called turtle, turtle, turtle, turtle. ya said Maui and now I can  go and get my fish hook from the under world. Wow this place is creepy and where is this guy that has the fish hooks said Maui. Hello said a random person, hello said Maui back to the stranger and then a figure came out of the shadows and Maui saw hooks on his belt and the person said to him hey, have you come here to get the magic fish hook? yes I have said Maui in a loud voice. well you are going to have to fight me to get that old fish hook, and then the fight happened bang, crash, pow, boom hey Mr said Maui maybe you should put some of the fish hooks on the ground? Ok said the man and he did and again and again until... there was one fish hook left on the belt, the man said fine pick one and Maui said ok and he looked around where he had dropped the fish hooks and he said this one looks cool and he keeped looking and he saw the one on his belt and then Maui said hey can I have this one and he got it and then he left the under world and went to find tuna! Maui went to find tuna and he met this woman and he asked her a question do you now where tuna is? and she said to him Oh I am not talking about tuna he was a bad fish and a bad friend:( she said  I now how to call him but you are going to have to do it and she told Maui the song and she said was, Tuna, Tuna, Tuna and then tuna came to fight with Maui! hey, my old friend said tuna and Maui said, old friend what? I will tell you after you defeat tuna well if you do said the woman. hey tuna said Maui come here to me and lets fight! ok said tuna and then while tuna was swimming over to Maui suddenly Maui was not the? it was like he had vanished from thin air what happened to Maui? said tuna and then here appeared and the he said wow I can now go invisible when I put this Turtle up in the air [ya said Maui LOL😂] tuna thew a lot of  hard hits at Maui and then the woman said to Maui  ''Maui the magic hook'' and then Maui grabbed it and hit Tuna once and he was on the ground cry his eyes out 😂 and then the woman said to Maui hey kid you have two choices. one, you can kill Tuna and then become a god or you can not kill tuna and be a legend for the people and the village, what one will you pick? well It is a tough question. I would not want to take the life of some one so I will  pick to sever the villagers!
